Where Is The Philosopher? Where Is The Scholar? He Died For Our Sins.

_DSC7611-Edit-2

“Where Is The Philosopher? Where Is The Scholar? Where is the debater of this age? Hasn’t God made the world’s wisdom foolish?” (1 Corinthians 1:29). Yes, He did. We also learn in 1 Corinthians that God destroys the wisdom of the wise and the understanding of the experts. Divine mysteries, I say! philosophy ends where theology begins. There is nobody among us who can de facto come near the power of God. The love of the lamb can’t be quantified even when using most accurate mathematical functions. It is only by the equations of God’s unconditional love and grace that we are saved. We can’t save ourselves despite our very own idea of world understanding.

Trust! We are to have the courage to advance God’s word and mission. God’s wisdom is true wisdom. Your wisdom and mine aren’t! Put aside that PhD for a moment. Let coefficients of reliability, ANOVAS and MANCOVAS, alpha levels and the many dependent variables dissipate. Who cares about them in the big scheme of things? Aren’t they meaningless anyway, as we learn in Ecclesiastics 1? Focus on God’s word! Only God has infinite meaning. We, my friends, are dust… flesh and blood. We need God not the philosophers or the scholars to find eternal truth. We need God’s grace first and foremost.

Don’t be immature, proud and rely on human wisdom. Humble yourself and surrender your wishes and life to the Lord. There is no greater mission than the former. The earth is the Lord’s and all that is in it! (1 Corinthians 10:26). He was pierced for our transgressions (Isaiah 53:5). He died so that we can live. Never forget that.

  1. Well said Sir. I studied Philosophy and Religion and at some point i felt i was struggling with my faith. I could not relate to somethings be said about God but He never gave up on me. He kept looking down at me and smiling cos He knew I would still be useful to his kingdom. Today, am a proud daughter of God. I will rather philosophise about God than anything else. It’s all about Jesus Christ and the world needs to know that including the philosophers. I love this line ” Philosophy ends where theology begins”.
Thank you sir, and God bless you.
