In Romans 13, we are instructed to obey the government because they have the power to punish and will use it. We should also obey the government because is the right thing to do, the Bible teaches us.
Yet, I see a number of churches disobeying the six feet social distancing practice and the stay-home mandate. Of all the institutions in our society, the church should’t be the one to act in an immature and rebellious way, especially because most churches have a disproportional number of members/attendees ages 50 and higher.
Stay Home. Stop The Spread. Save Lives — is what we are being asked to do by the authorities. This message is everywhere and we hear it all the tome. It’s in the media, It’s on billboards and also online in social media. Churches, why some of you are you doing this to our faith? Have you thought about the implications of your actions in relation to how the average person will perceive Christianity?
As of today, the United States has 323,506 thousand cases of corona virus 19. Many governors are now admitting that their states haven’t tested nearly enough of its citizens which could mean that the numbers of COVID19 infections officially recorded are probably low.
Having church services in person right now is unwise and unethical, in my opinion. I don’t know… What I do know is that the number of potential coronavirus cases decrease as we increase social distancing. As least this is what Dr. Fauci says.
Stop! Stop! Stop! I say Stop congregating right now. It’s not only logical but biblical. Trust and obey the Lord —- Pastor, protect yourself and your flock!
We can still glorify and spread the word of God by engaging in the great commission by communicating with the lost in social media, by writing a blog, and through zoom conferencing. The living word of God is available in google in web and pdf format.
There is no reason for anyone to go to a church building in these difficult times we are living. We, “the church” are much bigger than any building and can do God’s work from home. Most church employees can also do their works from home, if not all.
Please help me with telling your church friends to stay home. As we learn in Ecclesiastes 3: There is a time for everything. The time now is to stay home and stay safe. It save lives… Remember, “A sensible person sees danger and take cover, but an unthinking person will walk right into it and regret it later” (Proverbs 22:3).
