God Reveals Hidden Aggressions And Rescues The Brethren

This is the very first time in my career that I counted down the number of days to get out of where I work and live. I’ve never seen so many mean, callous, cruel, cocky aggressive individuals conglomerated in one place in my adult life.

Many have the audacity to call themselves Christians and blame others for their misfortunes and hypocrisies. How demonic, I say! Clearly, these “Christians” didn’t read or internalized what we learn in Exodus 20:16, “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor” or in Collosians 3:12, “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”

It has been written in Matthew 7:15-30, “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them.”

I repeat, “By their fruits you will know them.”

After some prayer and observations, thank Goodness, I’ve been able to see the true colors of this toxic local and educational culture in great detail from within, early on. A culture of intolerance, racism, and exclusion, in my view. I knew my time around there would be short, especially after serving as a shoulder to two nice people struggling to deal with the atrocities they experienced for three straight years in there.

The local culture appeared to me to be a hierarchical cult like culture where those at the top oppress those in the middle and bottom. Those in the middle oppress the bottom because the top oppresses them. In Brazil, we call this environment, “The Jungle.” The difference is that the fox is the king of the jungle in here, it seems. Lions are push down for their courage and punished for speaking out against injustice and for not conforming blindly from what I could see.

I also noticed this… The weak develop a fascination with their oppressors and put them on the pedestal even after they mistreat them, sometimes in public. Then… like in the Stockholm Syndrome, the weak oppressed starts developing a relationship with the oppressor. How strange.

People with minimum self respect leave as soon as they can, unless people make the wrong decision of buying a house around here when they arrive. Terrible, I must add. Can you imagine living in a place like this for 30 years? Not me.

The Lord is so good to us especially when we ask in faith for knowledge and understanding, according to His will. God reveals what we ask for including hidden aggressions and premiums humility — The enemy’s nightmare, our reward.

In 1 John 5: 14-15, it is written that, “And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.” He heard my prayers and made it evident to me after a few months of living and working here would be a very bad idea. I started looking immediately.

The Lord showed me the way, I felt liberated. We are so done with this place, for good… forever. It has been the disappointment of my career and most definitely a big mistake.

I’m so glad that God is moving us away from this place. Now, more than ever, I see why. The condescending, disdain/indifference these people have for outsiders, and the religious hypocrisy this place has makes any critical thinker to wonder.

I don’t think that they realize the damage they are doing to Christianity. No wonder why the faith is losing so many believers every year. What a tragedy and sin against God.

Awful, I say. Let me end this rant if I may. I have more things to do today. But hey…

Be humble, kind, gentle, patient… this is what God calls us to do and be. A true Christian follows the teachings of the Bible and attempts to live his life emulating the life of Jesus Christ asking for grace for his missteps.

A true believing Christian don’t treat the brethren like a doormat and/or show total indifference for people’s well beings… We are out, by the grace of God. Whew!
