There are over 100 bible verses relating to idolatry in the holy bible. We see examples of the former in the book of Exodus, Colossians, Leviticus, Psalm, Galatians, and many more. In fact, we read in 1 John 5:21, “Little children, keep yourselves from idols.” In Judges 10:14 we read, “Go and cry out to the gods whom you have chosen; let them save you in the time of your distress.”
As I always say, “Family must come ahead of fame.” We live in a fallen word that is driven by individual achievements that are so mundane in nature and essence. Do people really glorify God when they win something big or do they celebrate themselves like celebrating a golden calf using the pretense of God to justify behavior and self proclaimed belief?
I see so much idolatry, so often… sincerely. In Jeremiah 10:3-16 we learn that, “For the customs of the peoples are vanity.” It is in vain to blindly celebrate wordily things for the sake of aggrandizement. Let’s not forget we it is written in Exodus 20:3, ““You shall have no other gods before me.“
Push idolatry away from you. Focus your attention in the living God. Do what is required to live your life for God not yourselves. We are to glorify God not ourselves. Any form of Idolatry is destructive. Keeping our eyes in the Lord is constructive. Do good and love Jesus. Flee from worshipping mundane objects and artifacts that only elevate you at the cost of celebrating the nature of the Lord.
Do what is good according to God’s law. Always.
