Let your yes be yes and your no be no

In the Bible we learn, “Just say a simple, ‘Yes, I will,’ or ‘No, I won’t.’ Anything beyond this is from the evil one” Matthew 5:37. When we make important decisions in life, which should be done under much prayer, we must stand for what we decided without giving up our positions.

The former has much to do with the truth. Jesus addresses the subject of telling the truth (Matthew 5:33). Don’t break your oaths. An oath is a promise to do or not do something. When you are asked to do a task, do it to the best of your ability and once you reflected on your decision… and decided, stick with it.

Think before making a decision, especially if the decision you are making has long-term consequences. Don’t be anxious about it. In fact… “Don’t be anxious about anything.” Philippians 4:6. “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him” (James 1:5).

Pray and seek God when making decisions. Once you make a decision, let your yes be yes and your no be no. The Lord is with us to guide and teach us His ways. Glory be given to God.
