Faithful Christians and Gossipers Don’t Get Along

The word of the Lord is clear, “Do not go about spreading slander among your people. “ ‘Do not do anything that endangers your neighbor’s life. I am the LORD.” Leviticus 19:16.

Yet, so much gossiping is spread in this world. Gossiping betrays confident and among many other things, it separates friends. “A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret.” Proverbs 11:13.

“A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid anyone who talks too much.” Proverbs 20:19. I admit, I’m not a friend with anyone who gossips because the act of gossiping is condemned by the Lord. As a faithful a Christian, I choose God ahead of man 10 out of 10 times and landless and gents, you should do the same thing.

Remember the wisdom of the Salmist! “Keep your tongue from evil and your lips from telling lies.” Psalm 34:13. Thou said the Lord. “All my enemies whisper together against me; they imagine the worst for me.” Psalm 41:7. Listen carefully to the following piece Bible scripture.

“knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossipers, slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.” Romans 1:28-32.

I once worked for an establishment where the former piece of scripture summarizes some of its it’s overall corporate culture pretty well, in my view. I refuse to engage in discourses with anyone who is arrogant, boastful, envious full of malice gossiper individuals. Quite frankly, I don’t have time for them other than conveying the word of God to them occasionally.

It my duty. It’s the great commission!

“Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:16-20.

“Whoever conceals hatred with lying lips and spreads slander is a fool.” Proverbs 10:18. Stay away from them and those who only talk about themselves. “A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing his opinion.” Proverbs 18:2.

Is there hope for a gossiper? Only by repenting and turning to God! Otherwise not really. Stay away from them is they resist the gospel. “Do not speak in the hearing of a fool, for he will despise the good sense of your words.” Proverbs 23:9.

Say no to gossiping. It doesn’t come from God.
