The Lord, in the book of Colossians, clearly teaches us that we must obey His commands and focus our efforts on the afterlife by giving up worldly pleasures and sins. We are to examine our lives and be transformed by the blood of the lamb.
In Colossians 3:6 we learn, “Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. 6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming.. You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.”
Now I ask you. Can a “follower of the way” live life in impurity and yet see the kingdom of God? Committing sexually immoral acts without repentance? Adultery or a lifestyle of worldly sexual encounters, for example? Not according to scripture. And it doesn’t stop there. Greed, lies, and evils desires are also an abomination to God. Listen carefully to this: We must be radically different from the vast majority of humans beings living in this world.
We are to be living witnesses of Jesus Christ to the many peoples of the world. In order to do that, we must give up the ways of our former serves and welcome the ways of the one true God. Casting iron pan used by chef get better with time. We Christians must be better by emulating the ways of Christ Jesus through time.
Brothers and sisters, “For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Matthew 7:13-14. Be with the Lord, love His ways and don’t be slow to put in practice God’s commands.
Glory be to God.
