Instructions to the rich, straight from the bible

In the writings of Timothy, in the new testament, we learn that God provided specific instructions for the wealthy to follow in holy scripture. They are amazingly descriptive and easy to follow and understand, in fact. The verse that addresses how the rich should behave in this world goes like this, “Instruct those who are rich in the present age not to be arrogant or to set their hope on the uncertainty of wealth, but on God who richly provides us with all things to enjoy. Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and willing to share.” Timothy 6:17

Just for a moment, think of a wealth man or women who you personally know or you know of. Is he arrogant? Money hungry? Not a servant of the Lord? Who exploits the poor or disregards the needs of the homeless? Or it is the opposite. I don’t know what your position is in regards to the former question, obviously. When I think of most rich people I know, I see arrogance, greed, disregard for the poor and an unwillingness to share what God has given them with others. It’s a pandemic, must say. They actions are obvious and visible for many to see.

Quite frankly, some ultra rich people I know even treated me poorly when I was around them in fundraising events. I am not poor! What am I trying to say? The Lord’s message in regards the rich is clear cut. We are to share the gospel with everyone we encounter including them. Instead of enabling prosperity gospel preachers to deceive millions by distorting scripture, we the brethren should use the power of God’s great commission to guid multi-millionaires to Timothy 6:17. The true rich needs the Lord as much as we do.

isn’t that the truth?

I’m convinced that the word of God was inspired by the holy spirit through Godly men and women. Ruth, Esther, Matthew, Timothy… God’s word lives! It did yesterday and it certainly does today. Let’s honor God’s holy scriptures found in Timothy and help the ultra wealthy to understand which biblical commands they should follow ladies and gents. It’s our duty.

Next time you meet a wealthy man or woman, have a conversation about the Lord if the climate is inviting. Get into the habit of knowing the word to share it with many kinds of people including the upper class. Never forget the following: Sharing the God’s word is a true gift that glorifies our father in heaven. We are called to be His ambassadors on earth…

In God, we are to trust. Now and forever more.
