Biblically, we are called to be truthful in multiple places throughout our the Bible… it’s direct and overwhelming according to holy scripture. Therefore, as we are to live by good biblical example, we must also be truthful and devoted to the only one living God forever.
The call for us to speak the truth is clear cut from a biblical standpoint…
“ Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices.” Colossians 3:9. “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:6. “But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.” James 3:17
And so is the call for us to be devoted to God…
“Let your heart therefore be wholly devoted to the Lord our God, to walk in His statutes and to keep His commandments, as at this day.” 1 Kings 8;61. “Devote yourselves to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving.” Colossians 4:2. “This I say for your own benefit; not to put a restraint upon you, but to promote what is appropriate and to secure undistracted devotion to the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 7:35
We must be truthful and devoted to the Lord because we are Christians, or shall I say followers of the way. How can we be the salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13), the light of the world whose light shine upon others (Matthew 5:13-14) if we are not truthful in this life? Truth must be above all! And honesty must be our middle name.
Now, how can we be devoted to the Lord in a lie? It ain’t Christian if our devotions have a foundation of lies. The former is the facto, according to biblical scripture, the mindset of satan, the adversary (John 8:44). When false prophets get caught in their own satanic sins, what often becomes transparent are how many times they hid or distorted the truth for their own gain.
Thank God for modern technology because the business of false Christianity can be easily spot against the true meaning of the gospel and the practice of many true Christians. Thanks be to God!
Be truthful, devoted yo God… it is our duty to act this way today and forever more.
